I am writing to express my strong support for Liz O’Donnell for Town Moderator.

I have known Liz since she was in junior high, but my endorsement today is based on my experience working closely with her on the Dedham Finance and Warrant Committee, on which I served from 2008 to 2023, including Chair from 2014-2017.  From her very first year on the committee, Liz stood out. She came to meetings prepared, listened carefully, and asked thoughtful, substantive questions, no small feat on a committee with a steep learning curve.

During FWC deliberations, Liz consistently demonstrated respect for differing viewpoints and engaged in constructive discussion, even when she disagreed. When it came time to vote, she did so confidently, grounded in careful listening, research, and collaboration. These qualities - preparation, fairness, and respect - are exactly what Dedham needs in a Town Moderator.

Liz does not approach issues with a fixed agenda. I wholeheartedly agree with current FWC Chair Dave Roberts who said that she bases her judgment on facts, fairness, and merit. Her work on financial policies, the Deficit Reduction Group, and her clear presentation of the Town’s budget challenges to multiple boards, reflect both her deep understanding of Dedham’s finances and her ability to communicate complex issues clearly to the public.

After 33 years of exemplary service by Dan Driscoll, Dedham faces an important transition. Liz O’Donnell has the experience, temperament, and integrity to serve our town well.

She has my full support, and I hope she has yours. Join me in voting for Liz O’Donnell for Town Moderator on April 11th.
