Meet Liz

Liz O’Donnell lives in the Dedham home her great-grandmother purchased almost 100 years ago, where her family has put down deep roots across generations. She and her late husband, Kevin Dooley, raised their two children, Joe and Kate, here.

A seasoned communications professional, Liz is also an author and sought-after keynote speaker, known nationally for her advocacy on behalf of family caregivers through her work Working Daughter. Her professional career has centered on helping people navigate complex systems with clarity, empathy, and respect, skills she brings directly to her public service.

​

Liz has more than 20 years of service to her hometown and a deep understanding of Town Meeting, municipal finance, and community governance. She currently serves on the Dedham Finance and Warrant Committee including two terms as Vice Chair. During her tenure, she has been appointed to several key working groups, including the Deficit Reduction Plan Working Group, PILOT Committee, and Financial Policies Committee, where she helped shape long-term fiscal strategy and responsible budgeting.

She has also served 10 year as a Dedham Town Meeting Member and previously chaired the Sustainability Advisory Committee, where she helped launch and run the Dedham/Westwood Green Fair, bringing residents together around shared goals and practical solutions.

​

In addition, she served as the ECEC PTO Co-President, supporting parents, teachers and students.​​

Liz believes Town Meeting should be conducted in a way that is fair, unbiased, and respectful of all voices. She is committed to transparency, ensuring residents understand how appointments are made and how Town Meeting operates. Her leadership style emphasizes listening, fairness, and turning disagreement into productive dialogue.
